As some of you already know, I’m an animal lover. Here at home right now I have three dogs and a cat. All of my animals are rescued animals.
The beagle mix is too old and too sick to be adopted, but I have time to take care of her health needs. Someone had cruelly abandoned her at the intersection of a major highway. When I took her to the vet, I was told that she had been severely abused, and had suffered multiple broken bones in her life which had never been set, done undoubtedly at the hands of a human. She is the sweetest dog imaginable, very quiet and obedient, so I have no idea why anyone would ever want to hurt her.
The cocker spaniel mix had been abandoned and left for dead before she was even weaned. She is now 16 years old, and lives a very cushy life despite suffering from congestive heart failure. She is never taken to the vet overnight for treatment, because she gets extremely anxious (no wonder why) and that’s not good for her heart. We treat her here at home, including with necessary IV medications, under the supervision and blessing of our veterinarian. She’s a real cutie, even at her advanced age, so I don’t see how anyone could just leave her for dead like that.
The rottweiler mix was rescued from a meth lab when he was only 6 weeks old. When the cops came in and busted all the people, this puppy was left to fend for himself. Luckily some animal lovers tracked him down and brought him to us. He needs room to run safely, which most people don’t have, so we kept him. He’s a big sweetheart, and wouldn’t hurt a soul.
The tabby cat was born to someone whose cat had never been spayed, and had given birth to multiple litters. He’s one of the coolest cats ever, and fits right in with the dogs.
I’ve had other dogs and cats through the years, and usually have a few rescue animals I’m housing while we find them a permanent home, but those are the ones which I have kept as my own, for various reasons. Unfortunately, a lot of dogs and cats aren’t rescued. Of the ones who are rescued, it’s a neverending battle for no-kill shelters to feed them.
There are a lot of scams out there preying on the goodness of others, obviously. However, according to Snopes, there really is a website where you can click on a button, and help feed needy animals.
It’s well worth the effort. Each click equals .6 can of food. Add it to your bookmarks, so you can click daily.

The animals will thank you, as will those who have dedicated their lives to helping abandoned and sick animals.
