Please, do not insult my intelligence by pretending that you did not intentionally insult me. Of course you did, whether you are honest enough to own up to it or not.

At this point, I simply see no reason to continue this conversation.

also your naive you trust tv but i trust my eyes and ears and i read stuff and saw vids and the tv story is crap.
they didnt lure her they kicked her out and she didnt wanne go leave and go home but they yelled at her outside the house and her ride said enough let her go in and call -- tori had no phone! thats sad -- around to find a place her ride didnt want her either so she split. so tori goes in the bedroom to get phone numbers and runs into april and the rest is histori there was bad blood between the two.
so no luring no planning but of course theyre repsonsiblr for what they did but dont make it like some conspiracy.
oh and they wanned her to fight one on one they say it right on the vid but no one cares whats really on the vid. and its not excuse they had no righjt to beat her but also its no excuse to make up untrue stuff about them they wanted tori to fight and tori used to fight she was once on probation and changed school because of a fight i read so its not like she couldnt fight she decided not to fight and good for her. and same with the haha in jail that cool with me i just meant she was not in hospital for a week is all.
oh and shes not knocked out look at the vid and read what she says and you see shes hallucinaiting there was not knock out but tv will not tell you that. use your eyes and mind.

I'm not sure if that last one was a question for me, but I expect the guards to do their jobs, in this situation and every other. Part of their job is to ensure the safety of the inmates.

Also, it seems you misunderstood me. I don't want these girls in a juvenile facility (and you are right, they will likely be beaten in a juvenile facility, by someone who wants bragging rights). I want them in prison, so they can see what the rest of their lives are going to be like if they don't cut the crap. I don't want them in prison for a long time. A few months would likely do it, since they are not yet hardened criminals, but that is the path they are on, and it must be stopped.

Just so I make sure I understand you..... you think these girls should just get a slap on the wrist because they didn't cause injuries requiring inpatient hospitalization? Surely you jest. This was not a schoolyard fight where someone got a black eye and a bloody lip. They lured her there, held her against her will, beat her repeatedly - knocked her out at one point, then waited for her to regain consciousness so they could beat her even more - she has lost partial eyesight and partial hearing, yet you think she wasn't beaten badly enough for her attackers to be treated like they have committed a violent crime?

Wow. Just, wow.

Just because other kids show more outward signs of a beating does not mean they were beaten more severely, nor does it mean that these girls should get away with it because it was 'just kids fighting, and all kids do it'. This wasn't just a fight. This was a premeditated crime, a group of violent people who intentionally picked someone they knew wouldn't fight back, and if she had fought back, chances are she'd have been beaten far more severely. She was far outnumbered, after all.

I haven't seen anyone threaten their lives, but admittedly some people may go that far. If it is a credible threat, it should be prosecuted. However, you seem to be overlooking the irony of the girls and their supporters complaining that the girls got so much negative attention. These girls videotaped their crime and planned to put it on YouTube, so they obviously wanted attention for their antisocial behavior. It may not be the attention they want, but they still brought it upon themselves.

If the girl who was attacked wrote on MySpace "ha ha all in jail", I honestly can't say I blame her for feeling that way, given what they did to her. She is the victim of a violent crime, and that is what you don't seem to understand.

You are mistaken if you think that I care only because it was on television. Read my "about" page.

well not sure about prison but in juvie theyd get beat for sure and a lot. everyone wants them beat so i think in prison too, you beat them and you can bragg you were the one who did so for many years. like they are so inFAMOUS but they will not get protected like movie stars in prison i bet. i just find it funny how everyone is outraged but no one minds at all they got death threats and they are kids.
and 3 of them were not even guilty, cops charge wrong kids all the time, no one cares.
also, its mainly just the tv showing the video, no one would care otherwise.and theres a picture of tori soon after and ive seen younger kids beaten much worse.and i saw her parents say doctors said shell be ok and she left hospital that night and wrote haha all in jail on myspace. i mean good for her but really kids get beat as bad and worse all the time, i saw the two vids, april does not really hit at all its mostly for show, and thats when tori was knocked out? only that fat bitch hits for real and only at the end a few times.
so to me it all seems a scam, no kid does prison for this just probation like ever, show me any girl in prison for just misdermaner battery.

If you want to harass and insult people, yes, you must list an url if you expect the comment to stand. If you are making a normal, polite comment, no, you don't have to list an url, unless you just want to be added to my blogroll.

Everyone who comments here must list a valid email address, though, and the comment which I replaced with my notation did not leave one. Not to worry, I don't contact people who comment here, unless I know them; but it helps me differentiate between what is and is not a valid comment. In other words, the comment which I disallowed was clearly posted only to harass and insult, since they falsified their contact information. It is also cowardly, and I don't tolerate cowards well.

That being said your comment, url or not, is perfectly fine, and in fact you make a valid point. Allow me to explain. :-)

In female prisons, attacks are uncommon, and all prisoners are housed based upon how much danger they pose to staff and other inmates. So my reference to these girls spending time in prison is not a suggestion that they be beaten. Instead, it is a suggestion that they be held against their will, and be surrounded by people who are far meaner than they are, so they know what it is like to feel fear.

You know, kind of like how their victim felt when they refused to let her leave, and terrorized her for an extended period of time. Unless they are made to understand WHY what they did was so very, very wrong, they are likely to re-offend. These girls are bullies, it may be their parents' fault that they are bullies, or perhaps it is due to peer pressure. Either way, they inflicted serious injury upon an unwitting victim who did not attempt to defend herself despite the prolonged beating, and we must as a society not only cannot tolerate this violent behavior, we must use them as examples lest other teen girls follow suit (which they most assuredly will do, if these girls are not severely punished).

Stopping people like these girls from continuing to prey upon the weak is an act of humanism, because it enhances the lives of those around them, who might otherwise become their victims. Teaching them that their mindset is dangerous, so they choose a positive path in life before it's too late, is another act of humanism because it stops them from throwing their lives away, and again it is a preemptive strike for those who might otherwise become their victims.

Sometimes we must be cruel, in order to be kind. Luckily, that is usually only necessary when someone employs extreme or unnecessary violence.

I was puzzled by the post above so I looked at what you wrotwe before and found this:
"I think the best thing that could happen to these girls is for them to them get a very big taste of their own medicine. Throw those 17-year-olds into adult prison, and let them find out what the real world is like, living among people who act just like them. They will come out of the experience with a very real respect for what it is like to be beaten by multiple people at once, and to have no way to escape their attackers."

so sorry but is this not saying getting beat in prison is good? so if say a guard likes your blog and respect you and your a humanist and you say getting beat is good for the girls, he may look the other way when they get beat, no? Or maybe beat them too?
sorry but thats how i see it, and im not sayingthe girls do not deserve a beating but in prisonit can get real bad they could really get hurt or jusr get killed if everyone thinks they should get hurt.
anyway are you for or against them getting beat? and should gurads let them get beat or no?
i'm not judging just asking, is all.

oh and i really have no URL! does everyone here have url?

J: I do not tolerate people falsifying information just so they can leave a harassing comment; you falsified your email address, and failed to leave an url. I also do not tolerate people lying about facts in order to harass, as you did when you said I advocated violence against the girls.

You are therefore banned from the blog, and I have deleted your comment.

I'm going to be brutally honest, here...

The first thing I thought when they said the headline on the news and where it took place was "Red Necks."

Red Neck means to me, people who's mind set is myopic. They were never in an environment that properly educated these people morally, ethically, and intellectually as they grew up as a child.

They grew up and bread some more "Red Necks."

The children are a reflection of their parents.

I watched the video of the attack on Lindsay and was as horrified as everyone else. Little monsters, all of them. However, there is a grain of wisdom in Jenny's comments that we should not overlook. We as parents are absolutely responsible for children's behavior. Not always fair, but true. My biggest problem with parents and adults trying to blame MySpace and Youtube and other media is that they are not the problem! If you haven't taught your child to navigate the waters, they're gonna drown. Limit the mindless access to all media!! Turn off your TV, turn off your computer, i-pod, wii, whatever, and parent your children! Discuss the consequences of running your mouth on MySpace, or at school. Girls that run their mouths get beat up! Of course they don't deserve it; Lindsay didn't deserve to be attacked. But these kids need to understand that we are all living in a world with other humans that are horribly dysfunctional and we have to be prudent about what we say and do in order to live safely. Where were all these kids' parents? Probably at home watching TV! The small town that I live in is filled with girls just like those little monsters. I've made it clear to my 15-year-old daughter that I will not run interference for her if she wants to run her mouth-but I wouldn't stand idly by if she were attacked. She's the one who has to keep her nose clean! Little monster girls are ALWAYS on the lookout for new victims to bully. Scary stuff.

Hi everyone,

In my opinion I do believe theese teenagers did wrong by beating Victoria she didn't deserved getting beat up by 6 girls at the same time and I think the teengars should have some time in jail.... but!!! my concern is why did Victoria's parents let her leave out of their house in the first place??? why was she living in Mercades Nichols grandmothers house?? second of all why did Victoria post comments about those girls on myspace?? she's old enough to know the difference between what's bad and what's good...... not that i am on those girls side is just something people have to think of too..... Everyone as a teen gets into arguments with parents like myself but they dont kick me out of the house I don't leave either I had thought about it but i don't. I still think its Victoria's parents fault also.

I have seen the video and I have listened to the 911 call and read the copies of statements that have been made public in this case. I am still very angry about it but I was never that shocked about the mentality of the girls involved not to mention the lazy mother. I was disappointed to hear the parents of Victoria blame YouTube which cannot be blamed in the least. It was just a medium of information, if we didn't have the internet they would have made posters of pictures and put them around school or have done it in school to let others know not to mess with their cliche. I have read comments on other sites about older people talking about how teen violence and suicides were never heard of due to having better discipline which is ludicrous. Remember back when blacks couldn't attend the same schools as whites? When women couldn't vote? When the Nazis killed 6 million Jews and other anti-semitic violence? Or now finding out about abuse by Catholic priests and Sisters in the United States and Europe? I would recommend watching the movie The Magdoline Sisters (the director couldn't show everything due to fear of alienating the audience of the full account). I think that media may have some influence but for the most part all it has done in the last couple of decades is bring horrnedous acts to light. The main culprit in this case is sexiest upbringing, 'my little girl can do no wrong and is a princess' attitude. It festers the mentality of entitlement and a lack of work ethic having everything handed to them and no real respect for anyone or anything besides themselves. I also can't stand genetic based love; like their child can do no wrong because it came from their loins. Even the best and brightest selfless parents can give birth to selfish morons. Parents in that situation need to face reality and do all they can to correct those problems, the first step to solving a problem is acknowledging you have one. As far as sentencing goes they all need to do some jail time, at least a year. Probably why April Cooper could hardly keep a straight face even in front of the judge thinking the most she'll get is probation. Put her in State prison for a year and see if she still has any teeth left to smile with.

Having a problem with someone you don't like and confronting that person is one thing, but taking turns beating someone who isn't even fighting back is characteristic of a psychopath or psychopaths in the making. I hope there is no mercy shown on all of you involved in the brutal attack, you need an example made out of you. As for Victoria I wish you the best and hope your recovery is swift and full.

Crystal: I have seen lots of fights. However, this was not a fight. A fight is one person fighting another person who is fighting back. I think they knew this girl wouldn't fight back, and that's why they did this to her.

The fact that she didn't fight back means that it wasn't a fight, it was an attack by six people upon one person. There is a very big difference between a fight and an attack. No one with half a spine "fights" someone who will not fight back.

Their age is meaningless to me, at least with regard to the 17-year-olds. If they want to commit an adult crime, they can pay the consequences just like any 18-year-old. A few months' difference in age does mean that they should get a pass on their criminal behavior, after all. This was not a victimless crime, so I don't think they should get probation or some other slap on the wrist. It was premeditated, it was prolonged, and they very clearly held her against her will, as is clearly seen in the video. That calls for prison time.

I think the best thing that could happen to these girls is for them to them get a very big taste of their own medicine. Throw those 17-year-olds into adult prison, and let them find out what the real world is like, living among people who act just like them. They will come out of the experience with a very real respect for what it is like to be beaten by multiple people at once, and to have no way to escape their attackers.

I have no sympathy for them whatsoever. They committed a violent crime, and now they must pay the price which society demands for that behavior. Oh well. It's either stop them now, or wait until they hurt someone even worse.

As for the boys, all I know is that they were arrested, and that they allegedly stood lookout. I don't know if that's true or not, but if they are in that video, they've got a very serious problem.

Those boys weren't involved, they have no evidence at all showing that they were.. All 6 girls have said that those boys knew nothing about it. Grady Judd released the video on national television BEFORE they talked to a SINGLE witness, actually they didn't speak to ANY witnesses until 9 days later. Yeah there were neighbors around who heard the noise, and those neighbors seen Zach, and Steven at Zachs house. (which was next door!!) So What I want to know is why Grady Judd released this video, and pretty much stated that everyone was guilty before he even had facts!!! And if you people have not seen a fight before where the hell have you been living? It's a fight- now there are people making death threats OVER A FIGHT! Where the hell is the logic in that???? How can anyone justify that? Some people need to GET A LIFE!!

These teens that commited this terrible crime have once again proved just how horrible teens can be. I was once a teen but thought better to fight with words of wisdom never with my fist. As far as these 6 girls are concerned I am under the ideals that being tried as an adult might make them see that this is no longer about some stupid my space page or $4. These girls don't know what reality is but I can promise you that where they are at is one big check for them. I don't feel sorry for the mom of that girl. I feel sorry for Victoria and her family. I can't even picture not being able to realize that it is my child beaten so badly. My heart go outs to her family. As for the other teens I hope they get the max and let it be known, what goes around comes around.

I was on holiday from uk to florida when I saw the news. I could not believe what these sick individuals did to this poor girl.

I agree that they should be tried as adults for the crime that they committed. I have been following this story ever since I heard about it and really hope that they get what they deserve.

I can't believe that the parents are more or less condoning what these girls have done (if you can call them parents). This is someone elses child that has been brutally mauled by animals. How would they feel if it was one of there girls and how dare Mercades Nichols mom try act as if her evil daughter is innocent in all this. She was there, she was equally to blame as the other girls. It really makes my blood boil.

Well Victoria, I am a great believer in what comes around goes around. They will get there commupence and sooner the better. We will see who has the last laugh then.

I hope you make a full recovery and will be able to get on with your life.

As for the others, I hope you rot in hell (even that would be too good for you)

How would they feel if it was one of there girls and how dare Mercades Nichols mom try act as if her evil daughter is innocent in all this. She was there, she was equally to blame as the other girls. It really makes my blood boil.

Well Victoria, I am a great believer in what comes around goes around. They will get there commupence and sooner the better. We will see who has the last laugh then.

I hope you make a full recovery and will be able to get on with your life.

As for the others, I hope you rot in hell (even that would be too good for you)

It still amazes me that anyone could think that they don't deserve to be tried as adults. If you act like an adult (not that adults should be going this either) then there are punishments and you deserve to have them, not be babied because your under age.

The grandparents were not home and said that if they were it wouldn't have gone. I would certainly hope not.

Thanks, Sauerkraut! Well, I guess we know why "mom of the year" doesn't have custody. Do you know how long she had stayed with her grandparents?

So they didn't lure Lindsay there, so much as they just waited for her and then refused to let her leave?

I'm going to give the grandparents the benefit of the doubt, and assume they weren't home when this happened.

Still, I think something is very wrong in the home life of all these girls, or this would not have happened. Girls are not like boys, in that they are not naturally aggressive. I still suspect they were all spoiled to the point that they believed they could do no wrong. I'd be interested to know if any of them have a record of prior violence, school fights, etc.

The mother who was interviewed on tv does not have custody of her daughter. Her daughter was staying with the grandparents and it was in that house that Lindsay was also staying.

Pariahs of the community, all of them.

The two boys, too.

This story of the six teens beating up on Victoria Lindsay turns my stomach. I pray that God has mercy on the teens involved in this relentless act of violence and that their parents learn something from all of this and not blame YouTube for their children's actions but rather themselves. Parents must teach their kids right from wrong- if not the parents, then who will do it?
To Victoria and her family, I wish you all the best and pray that healing comes for you all quickly and gracefully. God bless you all and I am so sorry for what Victoria had to endure. May the Lord help your family through this trying time.
     Take care.

Well first of all to all the people involved in this brutal beating, you all said you were not sorry for what you did to this poor girl, but yet in court your crying, and putting your heads down, if your not sorry and not asshamed for what you have done, hold your head high and accept your future, you deserve it. And to Victoria Lindsay, i just want to say that i hope you get better soon, and i hope all of thoughs teens get the punishments they desirve, this is a unbeleivable act of violence, and all of them deserive at lest 10 years in prision. Lindsay they thought it would be funny, to video tape you and put this on the internet, but whos getting the last laugh! Hope you feel better soon!

I agree. The parents are the ones to blame here if anyone...not MySpace and YouTube. They obviously didn't teach their children anything about being a productive member of society. They should have thought of the consequences before they beat that girl up is what I am thinking...and threatening to harm or kill someone to keep them quiet doesn't really work and almost always backfires. There are laws against threats as well.

Of course the parents are going to blame everyone but their kids and themselves...I have always told DH that if he did something to got to jail, don't expect me to bail them out. The same rules apply to Babyhead and Babygirl. If they do something knowingly and land in jail be it fighting, stealing, drugs, etc...well then they can just sit there. The way I see it, if my kids end up in jail, then obviously nothing I taught them sunk in...so maybe jail will.
