Mayra Lizbeth Rosales, age 27 of La Jola, Texas, stands accused of killing her two-year-old nephew. A Grand Jury decided that she should face charges of murder and injury in connection with that death in the case of little Eliseo Gonzalez Jr.
There’s a little problem with putting her in jail or even taking her to court, though. Rosales weighs nearly half a ton, is bedridden, and can’t get through the door. The sheriff, Lupe Trevino, said it would be impossible to keep her in jail, not only because of the logistics, but because she needs extensive medical care. She has been released on a personal recognizance bond pending trial.
Eliseo died while in the care of his aunt, and she claims that she slipped, landing with her hand on his head, and that he fell off a chair. Authorities say her explanation is inconsistent with his injuries. They claim Rosales struck him twice on the head, killing him.
Of course, the fact that she’s bedridden kind of suggests she couldn’t have fallen on the baby. After all, even if she fell on him, how could she have gotten back up?
This begs another question. Why would anyone in their right mind leave a toddler in the care of a bedridden woman?
“…This begs another question. Why would anyone in their right mind leave a toddler in the care of a bedridden woman?…”
Obviously they weren’t in their right mind or desperate for whatever reason.
*sigh*
Not everyone who has children is in their right mind.
LOL, Dee. Good point.
Of course, for some it is probably the children that cause them to not be in their right mind. At least that is what my parents always told me.
